Seasalt.ai — Technical Product Manager

Title:Technical Product Manager
Type:Job
Brief Description:Conversational AI
Company:Seasalt.ai
Location:Redmond, WA, USA
Posted On:Feb 14, 2020
Application Deadline:
More Information:
Seasalt.ai is hiring a TPM in its Conversational AI product line. We care about
your attitude, learning ability, and work ethics much more than your skills and
experience. A good PM responds well to interruptions while a great PM is
driven by their creativity and mission. We hope to take you on a journey to
creating something from 0 to 1, and finding a substantial Product Market Fit
(PMF).

The job is highly technical yet abstractive in product definition. Your typical
week would look like:

1. Monday, Team Day: lead your dev team to go through Scrum boards,
communicate enough about work assignment, analyze team performance, help QA
crash bugs and raise issues, and anticipate potential blockers.
2. Tuesday, Customer Day: finding PMF takes hard work and lots of self doubt.
It is painful to be honest with yourself and find true customer pain points.
You’ll use all your smarts to identify potential customers, arrange customer
meetings, take notes of even the smallest customer complaint, define market
verticals, use data-driven methods to analyze everything, and ask them not
whether they like your product but whether they’ll pay for it.
3. Wednesday, Partner Day: partners are your allies who help you with both
go-to-market and distribution. Respect and treat your partners like your
customers, and most importantly, think about how to create win-win solutions for
your allies.
4. Thursday, PoC Day: a good PM should “alway have a demo”, for every
customer need. Work with your dev team to define different product functions for
different customer categories, and always be ready to showcase what you’ve
got.
5. Friday, Product Day: research, recharge, rethink, and relay your thoughts
to your team and supervisor. Draw product UI sketches, experiment UX, write up
MRDs and PRDs, create Scrum epics/stories/tasks for next week, and have the
patience and planning to deliver a great product.

The following personal profile fits our requirement:

 1. curious, creative, and imaginative: you are always eager to find out how
things work, how to improve things, how to fuse ideas to develop your own unique
thought, and how to create something that never existed before (and justify
it).
2. communicative, transparent, responsible, and honest: a PM is a managerial
position, you are bound by all requirements as a manager even if you don’t
literally “manage” people -- people will follow you out of your leadership,
not your managerial job title.
3. quick to learn, digest, adapt, and not ashamed to ask: everyday is a
learning day and every task is a learning opportunity. You grow yourself out of
the old you, and meanwhile, grow your product and organization from good to
great, by learning and acknowledging you need to learn.
4. have a CS or coding background, preferably in machine learning. If you
are/were a software developer and are looking to expand your impact as a PM,
then you are a good candidate.

You’ll be working with co-founders of Seasalt.ai, who previously built
KITT.AI, a CBInsights AI 100 company and invested by Allen Institute for
Artificial Intelligence, Amazon Alexa and well known local investors. Don’t be
afraid of the daily job description. Remember we value your attitude and ability
more than skills. You’ll have an opportunity to own a product. We will train
you and grow you into a great product manager.
Our office is close to the Overlake Business Center in Redmond, south of Highway
520.
