Turin
The University of Turin, Italy, invites applications for a fully-funded position
as a PhD student with the Content-Centered Computing group, under the
supervision of Dr. Valerio Basile. The position is announced within the Doctoral
School of the University and the Computer Science department (Research Topic
#8).
## Job description
The three-year appointment for PhD students is primarily focused on training and
research work toward the final dissertation. Applicants are asked to submit a
project proposal in the Natural Language Processing area, and in particular
related to the topic of "Perspective-aware Data and Evaluation for Machine
Learning". The research will be guided by the principles, and will aim at
achieving the goals of the Perspective Data Manifesto (https://pdai.info/), and
will create novel results and resources in this field.

The gross salary for PhD students is determined by national regulation and is
currently 17,500 EUR per year, corresponding to a net pay of about 1,290 EUR per
month after taxes.

## Qualifications
* Master’s degree in computer science or other relevant field
* relevant courses and excellent grades in NLP-related topics
* publications in NLP-related journal and conferences
* fluency in spoken and written English (Italian is not required)
## Research environment
The Content-centered Computing group
(https://cs.unito.it/do/gruppi.pl/Show?_id=453y) is a research group at the
Department of Computer Science focused on the study and the development of
"content items". The group is highly inter- and trans-disciplinary, with
interests in Computational Linguistics, Multimedia, Cognitive Science, Semantic
Web, and more, as well as the creation of language resources and the
organization of evaluation campaigns.
