Seasalt.ai is hiring Natural Language Processing engineers in its Conversational
AI product line. We care about your attitude, learning ability, and work ethics
more than your skills and experience. A good developer solves the problem but a
great developer solves the problem correctly and robustly in the long run.
The job is highly technical. A typical day looks like this:
1. 1 hour, Team Communication: supreme communication skill is your lifelong
trump
card. If you are an A+ player, you have the chance to influence other A players
to
become A+ players. Communicate clearly with your product manager, designer,
coder,
tester, and client. Understand what they expect and convey what you can
deliver.
2. 1 hour, Research and Discussion: research your problem first before attacking
it,
discuss with your peers to confirm a solution. That helps with an ultimate
solution and
makes code review so easier.
3. 1 hours, Documentation: Your README.md is half of your identity. Be rigorous
with
documentation because eventually it is read more broadly and comprehended than
your
code.Writing great documentation is a work philosophy, embrace it.
4. 3 hours, Coding: be productive, efficient, and effective in both your code
and (often as a
result) your work. It’s not school homework anymore, it’s production code,
the real deal,
every line counts.
5. 1 hour, QA Testing and Code Review: Code review and code testing are your
legacy
to your developer reputation. People will remember how responsible you are to
your own
art of work, and how helpful you are to your teammates. Show your true work
ethics.
6. 1 hour, DevOps: we ask you to be fullstack, not in terms of frontend vs.
backend, but
also in terms of development vs. deployment. Eat your own dog food, deploy your
own
code, and maintain your own product line. Because everyone else is doing exactly
the
same thing to be a responsible A+ team.
The following personal profile fits our requirement:
1. curious, creative, and imaginative: you are always eager to find out how
things work,
how to improve things, how to fuse ideas to develop your own unique thought, and
how
to create something that never existed before (and justify it).
2. communicative, transparent, responsible, and honest: we ask you to be
truthful to
your code and work even more than to yourself. Be communicative about pitfalls,
be
transparent about your thoughts, be responsible about your release, and be
honest with
limitations.
3. quick to learn, digest, adapt, and not ashamed to ask: everyday is a learning
day and
every task is a learning opportunity. You grow yourself out of the old you, and
meanwhile, grow your product and organization from good to great, by learning
and
acknowledging you need to learn.
The following skills fits our requirement:
1. Fundamental understanding of computer science, esp. parallel and distributed
computing.
2. Deep and broad knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing,
and
information retrieval.
3. Proficient in Python, or Golang, or NodeJS, or C++.
4. Good knowledge of RESTful and its frameworks, container and orchestration.
5. Practical experience of CI/CD and DevOps.
You’ll be working with co-founders of Seasalt.ai, who previously built
KITT.AI, a CBInsights AI
100 company and invested by the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence,
Amazon Alexa and
well known local investors.
