| More Information: | Position Description: Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) is one of the most
interesting and best-known applications of Natural Language Processing and
Machine Learning. A major builder of a machine translation service is looking
for a Program Manager to help build the highest quality translation engine for
the largest variety of content.
Project Information:
Location: Onsite at Microsoft Redmond campus
Length: Full time, until end of June 2014; possibility of extension
Key Responsibilities:
* You will apply multiple strategies and the latest research techniques to mine
the vast quantity of available data from the web and other sources to produce
significant improvements in translation accuracy.
* You will also develop innovative strategies to identify, acquire and utilize
offline data especially for low-resource languages.
* You will build and manage an extensive bilingual corpus and high quality
target language corpus of training data, and tune it to perfection.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or
Linguistics.
* Strong communication skills.
* Scripting or coding skills.
* You must be very data driven and enjoy mining large quantities of data for
patterns identifying problem areas and opportunities.
* Demonstrated experience working through a full product lifecycle, from initial
design to final product delivery.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The following are additional qualifications that would be helpful for this job:
* Foreign language skills
* Experience with web applications and services, web crawling or web search
